5th anniversary of the intangible heritage of Dnipropetrovsk region
Celebrated the 5th anniversary of the inclusion of the Petrykivka decorative painting on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Currently, this list has 390 items. And only one of them – Petrykivka painting – represents our state. And in the course of three years our region received one more significant victory – the UNESCO Committee included “Cossack songs of Dnipropetrovsk region” to the List of non-material cultural heritage requiring urgent protection. Should be noted that it has only 50 elements. That is now safe to say that our region is a cultural Ukraine brand at world level.
We are proud that the Head of our NGO Liliia Gyrenko was a member of the official delegation of the Dnipropetrovsk region in the UNESCO Committee in 2013 and a member of the working group for the element’ nomination dossier “Cossack songs of Dnipropetrovsk region” in 2016.
To the day of the first cultural victory of the region in UNESCO, we organized a photo exhibition “5 years of the intangible cultural heritage of Dnipropetrovsk region.” The exhibition’ photos show a brief history of the folk art development in our region. The main requirement for the item inclusion in the UNESCO list is to make this art “alive”, stored and transmitted from generation to generation. These moments that captured photographs were presented at the exhibition. Also exhibition showed “Petrykivka painters”, who presented our region at UNESCO in 2013. The separate exhibition, presented by the Center of folk art “Divokraj”, is devoted to the history of the development of Petrykivka painting from its occurrence to the present. During these 5 years the Petrykivka painting in the Dnipropetrovsk region became especially popular. This art is taught in kindergartens, schools, colleges. Master classes are held in hospitals and high schools. To draw a Petrykivka has become fashionable! Petrykivka village warmly welcomed the guests arriving not only from Ukraine, but also from far abroad.
Cossack songs began to sound in a new way. Our land was a cradle of Cossack whales and we keep not only the memory, but their unique traditions. Unique songs. We teach them.
During the celebration of the 5th anniversary of the cultural intangible heritage of Dnipropetrovsk, Cossack songs was performed by the folk art carriers of the “Nakhodka” band from the city of Zhovti Vody and their cover versions – by the Vertep group.
