Defense of diploma theses of 11 students of the 4th year of specialty 023 “Fine art, decorative and applied art, restoration” took place.
This is a special specialization at the “Dnipro Art College of Culture”, which produces not just artists, but masters of Petrykiv painting.
Our colleague, head of the department of culture and sports of the regional council, deputy of the regional council Liliia Hyrenko, conveyed the words of congratulations from the head of the regional council Mykola Lukashuk and the deputy corps to the graduates of the course.
– Now you are on the way to implementing your dreams and plans. You were taught the main thing – to love your history, culture and traditions. You have mastered the art of Petrykivka painting – an element of the National Museum of Art recognized by the world, you have been taught decorative and applied art and restoration. And this means that you will restore our country after the victory. We live in difficult times. And it is you, the youth, who have a great responsibility, said Liliia Hyrenko, addressing the students.
Defending their theses, students showed all their skills, the best skills taught to them by teachers. The students’ works were characterized by their teacher, national craftswoman of Petrykivka painting, honored master of folk art of Ukraine, head of the subject-cycle commission of specialty 023 Tetyana Harkava, thanks to whom the “Petrykivka painting” specialization has existed for more than 10 years.
This year, this world-famous element of intangible cultural heritage will be 10 years old. As one of the masters of Petrykivka painting said: “Petrykivka painting is not just flowers and birds – it is a philosophy of freedom and individuality. When you cross the threshold of the house and colors surround you, it is a huge positive, the colors are connected in such a way that you have some incredible, beautiful, optimistic music begins to sound in the soul.”
Each of the presented diploma works is like a flower, each one tells its colorful story.
We wish young graduates to find their own style, hone it and make their personal contribution to the preservation of Petrykivka painting.
Create beauty, paint, open personal exhibitions and go beyond the limits. Conquer with talent and be inspired by beauty.
