Master class and lectures on “Intangible cultural heritage of Dnipropetrovsk region”

On September 13, 2022, a master class and lectures on the topic “Intangible cultural heritage of Dnipropetrovsk region” were held with a presentation of 2 elements of the National Cultural Heritage – Petrykivka painting and Cossack songs of Dnipropetrovsk region.

And this is very timely, because today our cultural heritage is affected by an emergency situation and is under threat.
However, it can effectively help people respond to existing threats and recover from difficult situations. For example, what did our ancestors do, waiting for men from the campaigns? – They sang. And what can fill life with colors? – Drawing.

That is why, with the support of Viktor Sichenko (Dnipro Academy of Continuing Education, DRC), we renewed the lecture classes for teachers of fine arts of art schools in the city of Dnipro (there were more than 30 people), which were started a few years ago.

Liliia Hyrenko, the head of the NGO “WOMEN plus”, welcoming the participants of the event, spoke about the history of research and recognition of the elements of the ICH, their bearers, folklore expeditions and cultural projects, other work aimed at preserving, protecting, and popularizing the ICH elements.

The lecture was active and productive, for which special words of gratitude to our speakers:
– Olga Husina, our colleague and head of the Laboratory of Folklore and Ethnography of the Dnipropetrovsk Academy of Music of the Dnipropetrovsk Academy of Music named after M. Hlinky (topic: Cossack songs of Dnipropetrovsk region – from research to recognition)
– Tetyana Garkava, Honored Master of Folk Art of Ukraine, master of Petrykivka painting, head of the subject-cycle commission of the specialization “Decorative and Applied Art” of the Dnipropetrovsk Vocational College of Arts and Culture (topic: Pearl of Dnipropetrovsk region – Petrykiv painting).

The reports were accompanied by short videos, and the event ended with art therapy – a traditional master class of Petrykivka painting.
