Supporting #ICH: “Petrykivka Painting – A Phenomenon of Ukrainian Ornamental Art”

The village of Petrykivka and the Petrykivka Museum of Ethnography, Everyday Life, and Folk Applied Arts are a unique space where a true gem is preserved and nurtured — Petrykivka painting, included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (#ICH) and a symbol of national identity.
Petrykivka painting is the colorful heart of the Dnipropetrovsk region, requiring constant attention, protection, and support. Thanks to Liliia Gurenko, head of the NGO WOMEN plus, the Petrykivka community received the 8th tranche of a deputy subsidy from the regional budget. The funds made it possible to:
✅ Update some museum furniture to make it more comfortable for artisans and visitors
✅ Purchase computer equipment for digitizing museum items
✅ Renovate the stage for the regional ethno-festival “Petrykivka Divo-tsvit”
✅ Acquire specialized library furniture and update the main entrance, increasing access for inclusive users.
This time, Petrykivka was visited by our colleagues — deputies, lawyers, and doctors. They were welcomed with a warm, friendly atmosphere, a professional museum tour, and a Petrykivka painting master class led by the talented artist Nataliya Avdiienko.
At a time when our culture needs special support, we must care for our heritage, share knowledge about it, and do everything possible to preserve it for future generations. Petrykivka painting, with its vivid colors and ancient beauty, deserves particular attention.
