From June 12 to July 12, 2023 in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, a REGIONAL REVIEW-COMPETITION OF FOLK CUSTOMS AND RITES will be held among leisure centers and cultural centers of territorial communities of the region!
Organizers of the competition:
– Department of Culture and Sports of the Executive Office of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council;
– public organization “WOMEN plus”;
– communal institution “Dnipropetrovsk Regional Methodical Center of Club Work and Folk Art”.
The purpose and tasks of the competition:
– revival and preservation of customs, traditions and rites in Dnipropetrovsk region;
– popularization of Ukrainian folk customs, traditions and rites and culture;
– support and promotion of multinational cultural achievements of the Dnipropetrovsk region;
– formation of a sense of patriotism among the population of the region;
– preserving and developing the culture of the people, improving the image of cultural centers of territorial communities of the region among the local population.
Conditions of the competition
To participate in the competition, leisure centers and cultural centers of the Dnipropetrovsk region:
1. involve community residents and IDPs to participate in it;
2. reproduce fragments of calendar (farewells/winter/summer meetings) or family rites (christening, family, matchmaking, wreath-making, baking a loaf, decorating a branch, etc.); labor (entrances, the first furrow holiday, the first herding of cattle, removal of apiaries) and many other holidays, traditions, and customs inherent in this or that area;
3. submitted to the email address of the organizers kultdor@gmail.com:
– video clip with a duration of no more than 7 minutes, placed on a file exchange or on Google Drive. Performance of ritual actions includes – showing the ritual action, reciting the verbal text, performing ritual songs, dances. In the display of customs and ritual actions, it is necessary to faithfully reproduce the action, construction and their sequence, authentic verbal text and folk language, intonation, preserve the naturalness of the movements and behavior of the participants, which are characteristic of true bearers of folk traditions.
Contestants must use appropriate props (household items – authentic or modeled) and, if musical accompaniment is used, traditional folk instruments. The clothes of the participants of the contest must correspond to the local folk clothes.
– description and scenario of the performance of a custom/tradition/rite (or its fragment), unique only to the area where the team that will present it lives. The description should consist of an introduction, historical information about the custom/tradition/rite, information about the team presenting it, the scenario and interpretation of the content of the action taking place;
– 1 application from 1 institution for participation in the competition, containing information:
full name and address of the institution participating in the competition;
the name of the custom/tradition/rite being demonstrated;
Full name and age of the participants of the action;
Name, position and telephone number of the contact person.
Participation in the competition is not limited by age, profession, place of residence or gender.
Institutions – the finalists of the competition, which won the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places, are awarded with diplomas and certificates for receiving a deputy subvention from the deputy of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council, Liliya Hyrenko, for the implementation of works, the financing of which is carried out in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 590 of June 9, 2021*.
