Attended the training “Sexual violence related to the conflict: providing comprehensive assistance to victims”

A problem that is difficult and sometimes uncomfortable to talk about. Although, in our opinion, it should be shouted about.
Sexual violence related to war. 😔Victims very rarely seek psychological help and do not tell about the traumatic experience even to their loved ones.
How does this kind of sexual violence differ from, say, conflict-related violence?
In the case of war-related sexual violence, victims can be people of any age, sex or gender identity. This is confirmed by the statistics of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine: 72% of women and 28% of men who suffered from sexual violence during the war turned to law enforcement agencies. This type of violence is difficult to qualify due to the weakness of the legislation.
What can we do as WOMEN plus?
We can support and inform survivors that professional help is available. And that it gives results when the victims themselves express a desire to turn to specialists.
To do this, we received training ✍️ at the training “Sexual violence related to the conflict: provision of comprehensive assistance to victims”.
🤌The event took place within the framework of the project carried out by the Ukrainian Women’s Fund IBF in partnership with the public organization “La Strada – Ukraine” and the Association of Women Lawyers of Ukraine “YurFem” with the support of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of the Apparatus of the Government Commissioner for Gender Policy and funded by the European Union.
