Did you know that the “Vasylky” choir is not named after everyone’s favorite blue flower? And not in honor of some Vasyl?)
But everything is in order.
The other day, the Ukrainian folk amateur choir “Vasylky” of the Oleksandrivka village of the Slobozhan community celebrated its 35th anniversary. And how pleasantly surprised we were when we saw that half the village had gathered to welcome the team! People sincerely applauded their favorites and it was clear that they were very proud of them.
Today, the artistic director of the choir is Kostiantyn Bilyaev. A young, ambitious man in love with a song. And “Vasylky” together with him are experiencing a new revival and creative elevation.
And now, why “Vasylky”?🧐
In 1988, the talented choirmaster and composer Oleksandr Vasylkivskyi was invited to lead the team. In honor of their beloved leader, the choir members decided to name the group “Vasylky”.
By the way, it was very touching to see Oleksandr Vasylkivskyi meeting with a modern choir at the anniversary event. He, already at a very respectable age, came to congratulate the team to which he devoted 22 years of his life.
And we, NGO WOMEN plus, thank “Vasylky” for the popularization and preservation of Ukrainian culture, Ukrainian song and Ukrainian traditions. Which are the real #source_of_strength of our nation💙💛
