Heritage We Are Losing: Impossible to Forget, Essential to Remember

We continue to promote cultural heritage!
We visited the opening of the banner installations for the project “Heritage We Are Losing: Impossible to Forget, Essential to Remember” in Gagarin Park. ✅
The project was initiated by Noosphere, with contributions from scholars of Oles Honchar Dnipro National University, the Dnipro National Historical Museum named after Yavornytsky, as well as historians and researchers from other regions of Ukraine.
The photographs on the installations tell the stories of cultural heritage sites in Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions. They themselves have already become part of history. Among the featured objects are the Mariupol mosaics, the Mergeleva Ridge, Kakhovka HPP, the archaeological complex Mamai-Hora, and the Popov Estate. According to the Noosphere team, the project will continue.
We also spoke about heritage – our elements of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) – the Cossack songs of Dnipropetrovsk region and Petrykivka painting, which were the first from Ukraine to be inscribed on UNESCO lists. We discussed potential threats to ICH, ongoing cultural projects, and their contribution to preservation and promotion of heritage, highlighting the need to continue this work. 👆
We were impressed by the lecture presented by Valeriya Lavrenko, who shared her experience of museum work during the full-scale war, cooperation with international foundations, and the military.
During informal discussions, the Noosphere Association NGO proposed collaboration in the field of culture. We are grateful for the invitation and look forward to new joint projects. 🤝
Special thanks to Sergiy Okovytyy, Rector of Oles Honchar Dnipro National University, for personal support of the project, and to Oksana Buturlina for organizing such a useful event.
