The Mezhivska village council impressed the jury of the regional culturological project with the ICH twice – during the active participation in the preparation of documents (6 elements !!!) and during today’s expert tour. Mezhova represented 3 elements at once.
The jury was greeted with the rite “Meeting with the mother-in-law”, which is held during the wedding. Young people with their mother-in-law, a “twisted casing” and humorous songs were waiting for us. The second ceremony was “Dividing a cow” between the parents of a young family and guests of the holiday, during which additional elements are used. From this and several unusual names of the ICH element – “sole”, “harrow”, “owl”, “barrel”.
In conclusion, residents presented the 3rd element – “wheat”. Other names for this dish are “zatirka” or “eraser”. The tradition of cooking “wheat” is widespread throughout the community. The recipe is passed down from generation to generation and has remained unchanged to this day.
