Lecture-Presentation Held

We held a lecture-presentation on the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) of the Dnipropetrovsk region — Petrykivka painting and Cossack songs of the Dnipropetrovsk region.
For the first time, the event was organized for students of the Dnipro Vocational College of Technologies and Design. Special thanks for the cooperation go to Tetiana Kozhushkina.
Our audience consisted of first-year students — future fashion designers and graphic designers. The lecturers were practitioners!
• Our colleague Iryna Korchemacha (Iryna Chygryn) spoke about the two ICH elements recognized by UNESCO, their bearers, the work of UNESCO, and heritage as an identifier of Ukrainian identity.
• Students learned about Petrykivka painting from master artist Oksana Klysak, a member of the NGO Masters of Petrykivka Painting.
• The history of researching the Cossack songs of the Dnipropetrovsk region was presented by Anastasiia Liubymova, Associate Professor at the Department of History and Theory of Music of the Dnipro Academy of Music.
The final highlight of the event was an a cappella performance. Authentic Cossack songs of the Dnipropetrovsk region were performed by the bearers of this ICH element — the “Krynytsia” ensemble from Pidhorodne and their young companion group “Krynychenka.”
The Cossack songs left no one indifferent, and their presentation concluded with a joint performance by all participants of the song of resilience “Oh, the Red Viburnum in the Meadow.”
Our deepest gratitude goes to the heritage bearers and the ensemble leader Kateryna Karapysh for preserving living heritage and their love for Cossack song.
