“MeetUP: Traditions without Prejudice”

“MeetUP: Traditions without Prejudice” took place👌
“The main thing is to hear experts and give them the opportunity to hear representatives of local communities that care about the issue of the ICH,” – Nataliia Lysenko, the ideological inspirer of #MeetUP
❗️❗️❗️A special emphasis is on “Petrykivka decorative painting as a phenomenon of Ukrainian ornamental folk art” and Cossack songs of the Dnipropetrovsk region. Behind these titles are living people: creative collectives, bearers of traditions, who today are in communities close to the combat zone. It is extremely important for us that the protection of the ICH remains a priority.
It was a rich and warm event, where an atmosphere of unity, respect for traditions and at the same time openness to new ideas reigned. We discussed the most important issues of modern cultural development: from the study of cultural heritage to the introduction of digital technologies. Different opinions were expressed, new discussions were born, ideas for cooperation appeared – and all this in the spirit of partnership and trust.
🤝We are sincerely grateful that the following joined the discussion:
☑️ Anton Barabulya, National Commission of Ukraine for UNESCO, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine
☑️ Anastasia Kozyar, Head of the ICH Sector of the ICSC of Ukraine
☑️ Lina Doroshenko, Expert of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, National Coordinator for the Implementation of the Hague Convention
☑️ Valentyna Demyan, Deputy Director of the Development Center “Democracy through Culture”, accredited under the 2003 Convention, with a report on international cooperation in raising awareness of the country’s ICH
☑️ Oleksandr Kharlan, President of ICOMOS, who shared the experience of implementing a project on the digitalization of cultural heritage sites
☑️ Svitlana Listyuk, Head of the Baba Yelka Ethnolaboratory from Kirovohrad region. Every day, with their work, she and her colleagues prove that ordinary people can preserve heritage. The main thing is the desire to research, disseminate information, to develop
The dialogue space, in our opinion, worked for everyone 💯. We agreed that preserving cultural heritage is not only the duty of the state or cultural figures, carriers of elements of #ICH. This is our common challenge and at the same time our common heritage, which must be protected.
#MeetUP became proof that even in difficult times it is possible and necessary to find opportunities for dialogue, creativity and mutual support. Because culture is our roots, our strength and our path to the future
p.s. Special gratitude to the carriers of #ICH:
