“Song Gathering 2025” in Pidhorodne brought together performers of Cossack songs from the Dnipropetrovsk region.
It became a true circle of friends united by their love for traditional folk singing. The event was attended by all three ensembles listed in the UNESCO nomination file (“Krynytsia”, “Bohuslavochka” and “Pershotsvit”), as well as other groups and individual singers from Petrykivka, Pidhorodne, Slobozhanske, Spaske, and Kocherezhky, who continue the tradition of performing Cossack songs in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Adults and children, youth and our respected grandmothers — everyone sang together. The song came alive on their lips.
Why are such events important?
Because through the exchange of knowledge about the tradition of Cossack singing in the Dnipropetrovsk region, and by practicing singing together with the bearers of this element, we ensure its safeguarding.
Thanks to this annual festival:
📌 public awareness of Intangible Cultural Heritage increases in the region;
📌 young people become engaged in the process of informal learning;
📌 there is an exchange of experience in safeguarding ICH carried out in our local communities.
Cossack songs resonated with the polyphony of generations.
