Once again, we were convinced of the magical influence of Petrykivka painting and Cossack singing on a person. This time they “bewitched” the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria to Ukraine, Arad Benkö.
Yes, the cultural heritage of Dnipropetrovsk region really fascinates and surprises foreigners.
And this seemingly “magical” influence has a completely understandable explanation. This is a very positive energy of generations, which is transmitted through beauty, words and music. In short.
So what happened.
Petrykivka painting and Cossack songs of Dnipropetrovsk region – our two elements of ICH – were presented by Arada Benkö and Iryna Fomenko, head of the PR Department of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Austria in the city of Dnipro.
During the presentation, which took place at the Dnipro Professional College of Arts and Culture, the guests of honor heard about the history of the Petrykivka painting, its masters and the painting itself. We looked at products with Petrikivka painting, made by Tetyana Harkava and her students. They were also told about Cossack songs, about who sings them and why they are on the UNESCO list of emergency protection.
But to hear and see is simply to perceive, and to pick up a brush and join the art yourself is to feel crazy emotions!
The students and teachers of the Dnipropetrovsk Vocational College of Arts and Culture helped the guests of honor to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of Ukrainian culture and to understand the peculiarities of Petrykivka craftsmanship. They held a master class of St. Patrick’s Day painting and it made quite an impression on our guests!
However, we did not offer the guests of honor to sing with the artists of the “Slavutich” Academic Folklore and Choreographic Ensemble. Although the idea is not bad. But, judging by the results of the meeting, even without this, the guests were very satisfied.
According to the results.
Arad Benkö said that he would like to introduce us to the elements of the Austrian culture of the ICH, which in some ways is similar to the Ukrainian culture.
Wondering what it could be?! So the meeting left intrigue.
We hope that the mood set at it will encourage the beginning of a new stage of relations between the bearers of cultural heritage – Austrian and Ukrainian.
