“The Role of Women in Local Self-Government” is a gender-focused forum that brought together all four national associations of local self-government in Ukraine.
✍️ The discussions focused on women leaders, their leadership secrets, best practices of coordinated community work based on the principles of equal rights and opportunities, mentorship, and decision-making approaches used by community leaders that directly affect people’s lives.
Participants were offered:
✅ an engaging exchange of experience and networking among community residents facing the challenges of wartime;
✅ a live discussion with a Member of Parliament who shared Sweden’s experience in women’s participation in local governance and the implementation of gender equality standards.
📝 Special emphasis was placed on meeting women leaders who transform their communities into volunteer hubs, cooperate with international donor organizations, implement grant projects, save lives and rebuild communities, support the military and internally displaced persons, and inspire faith in victory through their own example of resilience and perseverance.
These remarkable women took part in the panel discussion “How Was It? How Is It? How Should It Be?”, moderated by Liliia Hyrenko.
🤝 We extend our sincere gratitude for the valuable experience and relevant insights to Larysa Nalyvaiko (Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs), Nataliia Petrenko (Shulhynska Village Military Administration, Luhansk Region), Mariia Chernenko (Rohan Settlement Council, Kharkiv Region), and Liudmyla Murkovych, Head of the Novopokrovska Territorial Community.
The practical experience shared by the panelists clearly proved that A WOMAN CAN DO ANYTHING! 💪
🤝 We are grateful for the invitation to Svitlana Spazheva, Head of the Gender Equality Platform of the All-Ukrainian Association of Amalgamated Territorial Communities, Olha Havrylenko (Dnipropetrovsk Regional Office of the Association), and Yuliia Savelieva, representative of SALAR, for professional moderation.
