Tomakivskyi Dyven – part of the national “Ark of Tastes”

In the summer of 2021, our public organization implemented the regional cultural project-competition “Intangible cultural heritage of Dnipropetrovsk Region”. Its finalists included 10 elements worthy of representing our region at the world level. (More details about the winners can be found at the link https://womenplus.com.ua/news/svyatkovij-final-proiektu-nks-dnipropetrovshhini/).

We offered some of these elements for participation in the international project of the European Research Council (ERC-StG) “The Ark of the Taste of Ukraine”. This is an online catalog of national products that are part of our culture, but are in danger of disappearing. “Ark of Taste” was published in Italy last year.

We are proud that this unique “digest” of plants, animals, and products born on Ukrainian soil includes the “Tomakivskyi Wedding Dyven”. We feel involved in the noble common cause of preserving the cultural heritage of the Dnipropetrovsk region.
Another element – the finalist of our competition – “grout” – also entered the “Ark of Taste”, but not individually, but one that is characteristic of a number of regions of Ukraine. From Dnipropetrovsk region, the catalog includes Kryvyi Rih poppy paska, which also represents the culinary culture of our region. We appreciate and preserve our national heritage in all its manifestations.
