We recommend to read

How to learn to live in conditions of constant stress? It is difficult, but not impossible.

We have useful advice from a member of the NGO “Women Plus”, psychologist, art therapist Yana Polyanska. Later we will write about them.

In the meantime, we recommend you read two books about mental health.

1. “Being okay. What is important to know about mental health”, Darka Ozerna

There is a myth that you should run away from a person with a mental disorder. However, such people are not psychos or antisocial individuals. Mental disorders can happen to anyone, and these conditions can be treated, Ukrainian biologist and medical journalist Darka Ozerna writes in the book.
The author focuses on the Ukrainian context: what stereotypes exist in the country and what consequences they cause. The book collects basic information about the mental state of a person, describes the principles of brain operation and manifestations of emotions, and also considers typical mental disorders.

“In Ukraine, family violence is quite calm, and mental disorders are very intolerant. And you should do the opposite: run when you are beaten and help people who are depressed or suffering from a mental disorder,” the book says.

2. “Trapped in depression. How to overcome anxiety and enjoy life”, Alex Korb

Alex Korb is a neuroscientist, PhD, researcher at the Department of Psychiatry at the University of California, Los Angeles, and a consultant to biotech and pharmaceutical companies. He claims: sometimes it is enough to make changes to the “setting” of one neuronal group in the brain in order to stop depression.
.
“Always focus on what is happening to you and around you here and now, and don’t think about what could be. Focus really helps to reduce the level of anxiety,” the author writes.
